XAU/USD stalls at 4341 as daily downtrend keeps sellers in charge

Renzo

Gold is pressing against a cluster of broken levels that have flipped to supply, and the daily trend has not forgiven the bulls yet.

Spot XAU/USD is near flat on the session, trading inside a 4328.77 to 4341.85 range with no material catalyst crossing the wires. The absence of fresh news leaves the market entirely at the mercy of positioning and technical structure, and that structure is not clean.

The tape argues for caution on the long side. The daily trend remains down, and while shorter timeframes have gone neutral, that is consolidation rather than reversal. Price trades above EMA20 at 4295.31 and EMA50 at 4300.29, which ordinarily flags momentum — but EMA200 at 4494.66 sits well overhead as a long-term structural ceiling, and the prior broken supports at 4353.25 and 4366.23 now act as supply. RSI sits in neutral territory, trend alignment is mixed across timeframes, and volatility is elevated, a combination that typically produces choppy, mean-reverting price action rather than clean trend extensions. For a momentum desk, this is not a setup worth pressing from the long side.

We lean short and sell into the 4341–4353 zone where intraday highs and the nearest resistance converge. A daily close above 4353.25 invalidates the bearish lean and forces a reassessment toward 4366.23.
