XAU/USD stalls at 4193 as full downtrend stack stays intact

Gold is grinding beneath broken structure with nothing on the tape to argue the trend has shifted, and momentum desks have no reason to stand aside.

Bullion is up a marginal 0.52% on the session, but the context is stark: the prior week delivered a loss of over 3%, with price carving through a succession of levels — 4353.25, 4246.54, and 4121.74 — that had each previously offered support. The intraday range between 4178.40 and 4195.45 reflects a market catching its breath, not reversing.

The structural read stays bearish. Price sits comfortably beneath EMA20 at 4204.77 and EMA50 at 4244.97, with EMA200 at 4447.01 a distant ceiling. Trend is aligned lower across the 1H, 4H and daily timeframes, and RSI sits in neutral territory — firm enough that there is no mechanical oversold argument for a relief rally. Volatility is elevated, which in a trending environment typically accelerates the move in the direction of the trend rather than inviting mean reversion. The tape argues for continuation: prior support levels have become resistance, and each attempt to recover has been sold.

We lean short and sell any bid into the 4204.77–4220.52 zone. A daily close above 4220.52 invalidates the setup and warrants a stand-down; while it caps, we look for a test of 4136.48.
