XAU/USD slides toward 4511 as downtrend alignment tightens grip

Renzo

Gold is not finding buyers at any timeframe, and the tape is making that case with unusual clarity.

XAU/USD shed close to 2% on the session and printed an intraday range of 4665.26 to 4511.97 before consolidating near 4561. The weekly picture is equally unforgiving, with the metal now lower by more than 4% over the past five days. No headline catalyst has offered a reprieve, leaving the move entirely technically driven.

The setup reads cleanly for a trend-following desk. Price sits below EMA20 at 4595.44, EMA50 at 4635.33 and EMA200 at 4694.67, with each shorter-dated average nested below the next in a bear stack. Trend is aligned lower across 1H, 4H and 1D, confirming the momentum signal without ambiguity. RSI is approaching oversold territory, consistent with a strong trend rather than a reversal signal, and volatility is elevated, meaning the ATR regime supports continuation moves rather than mean reversion. Resistance at 4610.16 and 4646.98 are logical sell zones; support at 4510.99 and 4500.79 are the near-term targets the tape is pressing toward.

We lean short and sell rallies into the 4595–4610 area. A daily close back above 4646.98 invalidates the call and forces reassessment of the broader trend structure.
