XAU/USD slides toward 4511 as downtrend alignment holds
Gold is in clean trending conditions to the downside, and the tape is offering no reason to step in front of it.
Spot XAU/USD shed nearly 2% on the day, printing an intraday range from 4665.26 down to 4511.97 before settling near 4560. The one-week drawdown now extends beyond 4%, and every prior support level from 4610 down to 4480 has been broken in sequence through the window. There is no fresh macro catalyst in the news flow to explain the move — this is pure trend and positioning.
The technical structure is unambiguous. Price trades below EMA20 at 4595.45, EMA50 at 4635.33, and EMA200 at 4694.67, with the moving average stack fully inverted. Trend is aligned down across the 1H, 4H and 1D timeframes, and volatility is elevated — the type of environment where momentum tends to extend rather than mean-revert. RSI is pressing toward oversold but has not reached a level that demands a stand-down; in a trending regime, oversold readings can persist. Near-term support clusters at 4510.99 and 4500.79, and a clean break below that shelf opens the door to 4480.49.
We lean short and sell rallies into the 4595–4610 supply pocket. A daily close above EMA50 at 4635.33 invalidates the call and forces a reassessment.
