XAU/USD slides to 4139 as trend stays aligned down
Gold is testing the lower end of its session range with every timeframe pointing in the same direction, and the trend-following playbook here is unambiguous.
Bullion has dropped 1.69% on the day, carving a range from 4213.22 down to 4121.87 before settling near 4139. There is no fresh macro catalyst in the window to explain the move — this is tape-led, momentum-driven selling that has now extended the weekly loss to nearly 1.88%.
The structural read is clean. Price trades well below EMA20 at 4261.35 and EMA50 at 4284.32, with EMA200 at 4475.60 a distant ceiling. The trend is aligned down across 1H, 4H and 1D, RSI is approaching oversold but remains neutral — not yet at a level that mechanically argues for reversal — and volatility is elevated, widening the expected daily swings. Prior context reinforces the bias: multiple levels that once offered support at 4354.02, 4246.54 and 4366.23 have all been broken cleanly in recent sessions, leaving 4023.73 as the next meaningful demand floor. From a trend-following lens, broken support becomes fresh resistance, and rallies into the 4246–4261 zone offer structured risk.
We lean short and sell rallies into 4246–4261. A daily close back above EMA20 at 4261.35 invalidates the call and forces a reassessment.
