XAU/USD slides below EMAs as downtrend alignment firms

Renzo

Gold is caught in a clean, unambiguous downtrend and the tape is offering bulls no foothold worth defending.

Price shed 0.48% on the session and carved out a range between 4184.32 and 4213.22 before settling just above the day's low. There is no fresh headline catalyst driving the move — the selling pressure is structural, reflecting a broader positioning unwind that has broken multiple support shelves across the prior seven sessions, including the 4354.02 and 4246.54 areas as prior context confirms.

The setup is momentum-friendly. Price sits below EMA20 at 4272.68 and EMA50 at 4289.64, with EMA200 at 4477.60 far overhead — the full EMA stack is arrayed against the bulls, and trend is aligned down across all timeframes. RSI is drifting toward softer territory without yet reaching a technical floor, leaving room for further downside before any mean-reversion bid materialises. Volatility is elevated, which in a trending regime favours continuation rather than reversal. The nearest resistance sits at 4246.54, and the next material support is 4023.73 — that spread defines the range in play.

We lean short and sell any intraday bounce into the 4184.32–4246.54 band. A daily close above 4246.54 resistance invalidates the near-term bearish structure and forces a reassessment.
