XAU/EUR fades 3748 high as daily downtrend resists the bounce
Gold priced in euros has staged an aggressive intraday bounce, but the trend-follower's job is to distinguish a genuine reversal from a retracement opportunity against the prevailing current.
XAU/EUR added 1.25% on the session, trading a wide range from 3697.735 up to 3748.505. There is no macro catalyst on the wire to justify the move — the bid looks like short-covering and intraday liquidity dynamics rather than fresh directional flow. The weekly picture shows a 2.73% recovery, but all of the prior broken levels from the week remain overhead.
The structural read stays cautious. Price is now pressing against 3754.22 resistance, with 3760.97 and 3769.18 stacked above as the supply zone the prior downtrend carved out. EMA20 and EMA50 are clustered near 3714–3715, sitting well below the current bid — a level reclaimed intraday but one that offers little anchor while EMA200 remains far overhead at 3854.4967. Trend alignment is mixed across the short and medium timeframes, RSI sits neutral, and volatility is elevated, which historically favours fading moves into resistance rather than chasing them. The analytics signal leans bearish with low confidence, consistent with the uncertain tape.
We lean short on any intraday rally into 3748–3754. A daily close above 3769.18 invalidates the fade and signals the daily downtrend is breaking down in earnest.
