USD/JPY grinds above 160.18 EMA20 as trend stack stays aligned

Renzo

USD/JPY is the cleanest trend trade on the board right now — a pair grinding higher on aligned momentum with no macro catalyst disrupting the flow.

The pair has added 0.24% over the past week, trading a contained session range of 160.2405 to 160.4375 as of the London open. The session dip of barely a basis point is noise, not signal — price has not tested the EMA20 meaningfully and the daily structure remains unbroken.

The setup is textbook for a momentum desk. All three trend timeframes — 1H, 4H and 1D — are pointing up, and trend is fully aligned across the stack. RSI sits in neutral territory, neither stretched nor capitulating, which keeps the upside runway clear before overbought conditions become a constraint. Volatility is calm, keeping stops tight and risk/reward honest. Price trades above EMA20 at 160.18, EMA50 at 159.91 and EMA200 at 158.69, the full EMA ladder stacked in order. The 160.387 resistance is the immediate friction point; beyond it, 160.718 is the next structural level to target. Prior context confirms these levels have been in play, with the 160.387 area recently tested and holding as a cap to clear.

We buy dips into 160.18–160.24 and look for a sustained break of 160.387 to open the 160.718 extension. A daily close below EMA50 at 159.91 invalidates the call outright.
