Nikkei fades below 65300 as bearish momentum builds

Renzo

Nikkei is trading on the wrong side of both key moving averages, and what looked like a modest intraday bounce now has the feel of a failed reclaim.

The index traded a wide 63948.5 to 65095.5 range on the day, posting a 0.43% gain — but that recovery has stalled below EMA20 at 65300.42 and EMA50 at 65633.13, leaving the bid exposed. No headline catalyst is driving the session; this is pure positioning pressure on an index that shed more than 4% over the prior week.

The structural picture argues against the bulls. Both the 1H and 4H trends point lower, and while the daily has shifted to neutral, trend alignment is mixed at best — not the backdrop that encourages dip-buying. RSI sits below the midpoint without being oversold, leaving room for a further leg lower before momentum washes out. Volatility is elevated and moves can be abrupt in either direction. EMA200 at 63014.68 sits well below current price and offers the only meaningful longer-term anchor. First structural support sits at 63892, with 63409 and 62483 queued below.

We lean short on any rally into the 65300–65633 supply zone. A daily close above EMA50 at 65633 invalidates the bearish thesis and forces a reassessment; until that clears, sellers control the tape.
