EUR/USD fades under EMA50 as daily downtrend holds

Renzo

EUR/USD is struggling to find a bid above EMA20, with the daily downtrend quietly pressing against a pair that lacks the momentum to break higher.

The pair edged down a fraction on the session, printing a narrow range between 1.14017 and 1.14244, and sits just above EMA20 at 1.14024. No macro catalyst has driven the move; this is a technically governed grind, with the prior week's upside — a gain of roughly 0.46% — now fading against the dominant daily structure.

From a trend-following lens, the message is clear enough. The daily timeframe reads bearish, and EMA50 at 1.14188 sits directly overhead, a level the pair has so far failed to reclaim on a closing basis. Prior sessions broke through resistance at 1.14799 and 1.14363, both now reversed, keeping sellers structurally in control. The shorter timeframes are mixed, and RSI sits neutral, so there is no momentum amplifier in either direction. Volatility is calm, which argues against a clean trending move developing immediately, but the trend-follower's edge is in staying with the dominant direction until it is demonstrably broken.

We lean short and sell into rallies capped at EMA50. A clean 4h close above resistance at 1.14363 invalidates the bearish read and forces reassessment. Below EMA20, support at 1.13786 becomes the first meaningful target.
