EUR/USD fades below 1.1554 as downtrend alignment firms

Renzo

EUR/USD is doing exactly what a fully aligned downtrend looks like — grinding lower with each rally capped, buyers unable to reclaim the EMAs overhead.

The pair has added a marginal 0.06% on the session, trading inside a narrow 1.15332 to 1.15499 intraday range, though the weekly picture tells a cleaner story with price down over half a percent from last week's highs. No headline catalyst is driving the move; this is pure positioning and trend mechanics doing the work.

The setup is textbook for a momentum desk. Price sits below EMA20 at 1.15559 and EMA50 at 1.15855, with EMA200 at 1.16628 well overhead — the full stack inverted and pointing lower. Trend is aligned down across the 1H, 4H and daily timeframes with no divergence to flag. RSI sits in neutral territory, not yet oversold, which is the key detail: the move has room to extend before mean-reversion flows become a legitimate threat. Volatility is calm, which means the drift can persist without a sharp reversal shaking out shorts prematurely. Nearest resistance at 1.15541 is the immediate ceiling, and price has not traded through it today.

We lean short and sell any bid into the 1.15460–1.15541 pocket. Targets sit at the 1.15265 and 1.14993 support levels below. A daily close above EMA50 at 1.15855 invalidates the call and forces a stand-down.
