Dow Jones fades 49924 as bearish momentum holds below EMAs

Renzo

The Dow is grinding beneath a graveyard of former supports, and every attempted rally is being met with fresh supply.

Price added a fractional 0.12% on the session, trading inside a 49706.15 to 49924.65 range. No macro catalyst drove the move, but momentum tells the story clearly: a string of prior support levels were surrendered over the past week and now sit overhead as hard resistance, capping any attempted recovery.

The setup favours continuation lower. EMA20 at 50605.48, EMA50 at 50769.38 and EMA200 at 50114.09 are all positioned above current price, forming a layered ceiling that any rally must work through. Trend is aligned down on the 1H and 4H timeframes, with only the daily holding residual upward bias — a divergence that trend-following models read as a pullback within a deteriorating structure, not a reversal. RSI is deep in oversold territory, which on a momentum tape typically signals the move has been aggressive rather than exhausted. Volatility remains in a normal regime, so the drift lower is orderly and unlikely to snap back sharply without a clear catalyst.

We lean short and sell into any bounce toward the 49843–49991 resistance cluster. A daily close back above 50097.95 invalidates the bearish thesis and forces a full reassessment.
